Registering the bite sounds so simple. And yet, taking a bite registration is a highly complex step that involves defining the lower jaw – which can move in three dimensions – in precisely one position in relation to the upper jaw. This is key, because the required dental product is then made in this exact position in the articulator. But what happens if it isn’t possible to precisely determine this one key position? This is where the teamwork between dentists and dental technicians reaches its limits.
And as in many other areas, digitalisation can be extremely helpful in this situation. So why use analogue methods to generate a bite registration in this day and age when a digital approach can make it much easier and safer?
Here at theratecc GmbH & Co. KG, we dedicated 10 years to conducting intensive research on this topic together with our partners, including Chemnitz University of Technology. It’s fair to describe our results as pioneering. This is precisely why the development of this patented 3D technology received funding from the Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) set up by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the European Union.
Thanks to this new sensor technology, the required centric relation in the mouth can be captured in 3D, displayed on a tablet and transferred immediately to a reproducible bite registration in the mouth.
You can count on our concepts for bite registration – backed up by over 10 years of experience in research and development. Use the Centric Guide® 3D for your working routines and plug one of the last analogue gaps in the digital production process.
